The Piece
Oversized fit in black heavyweight cotton fleece, built for a boxy streetwear silhouette with lasting structure and warmth. The PHAVOS logo and monogram sit on the front chest, printed with a glow-in-the-dark blue finish, while a geometric cyberpunk emblem on the sleeve carries the same UV-reactive glow — details that stay hidden by day and activate after dark.

The Artwork
The oversized back print reworks a falcon painting attributed to Mitani Toshuku (1577–1654), a 17th-century ink painter of Japan's Unkoku school, renowned for his falcon studies — so admired in his time that they were known as the "Mitani Falcons." Rendered with sharp chiaroscuro and meticulous feather detail, the original captures the hawk as a symbol of power and nobility, a favorite motif of Japanese warlords during the era of civil wars.

The Artist
Mitani Toshuku trained under Unkoku Tōgan, founder of the Unkoku school, which traced its lineage back to the legendary painter Sesshū Tōyō. Working primarily in ink with restrained color, Toshuku became the school's defining falcon painter, his birds prized across the Mōri domain for their solemn, almost regal presence.

The Intervention
PHAVOS recasts the falcon in neon cyan-green, stripped down to a bold cyberpunk silhouette and framed by brutalist white bars and oversized futuristic type. "Taka Protocol" ("taka" meaning hawk in Japanese) collides four centuries of symbolism — the noble hunter of the Edo period, rebooted as a digital-age predator, its glow-in-the-dark details echoing a creature built as much for the night as for the hunt.
