Almond Bloom

The Piece
Crafted in heavyweight bone cotton with a distressed finish, the Almond Bloom hoodie carries a blue PHAVOS™ monogram on the chest and a matching sleeve mark. Van Gogh’s composition is reworked across the back, with the intervention integrated into the branches rather than placed over the image.

The Artwork
The back print is based on Almond Blossom (1890) by Vincent van Gogh. Painted in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in February 1890, the work was made as a gift for his newborn nephew, Vincent Willem. Flowering almond branches stretch across a clear blue field, using cropped forms, flattened space and strong contouring that reflect Van Gogh’s close study of Japanese woodblock prints.

The Artist
Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) developed one of the defining visual languages of modern painting through colour, line and an intensely personal way of observing nature. Japanese prints played a major role in that development, influencing how he cropped images, flattened space and organised natural forms across the picture plane.

The PHAVOS™ Interpretation
The PHAVOS™ monogram is woven into the almond branches themselves, extending the painting’s existing logic of visual translation. The original image remains immediately recognisable while the mark becomes part of its structure.
