PHAVOSThe piece & its story

The Piece
Heavyweight black hoodie with an oversized, boxy fit. The back carries a cybernetic reconstruction of Mitani Tōshuku’s falcon, while glow-in-the-dark PHAVOS™ details on the chest and sleeve remain almost invisible until the light drops.

The Artwork
The back print is based on an early seventeenth-century Falcon associated with Mitani Tōshuku (1577–1654), a prominent painter of the Unkoku school. The bird is shown descending through an almost empty field, its body built from restrained ink washes and tightly controlled feather detail.

The Story
Falcons carried strong political and social associations in early modern Japan. Falconry was closely tied to military elites, and images of birds of prey became natural symbols of controlled power, vigilance and rank. Tōshuku became especially known for this subject, to the point that his hawk and falcon paintings were remembered as the “Mitani Falcons.”

The Artist
Mitani Tōshuku (1577–1654) was a prominent member of the Unkoku school, founded by Unkoku Tōgan in southern Japan. The school worked within an ink-painting lineage that looked back to Sesshū Tōyō, combining disciplined brushwork with strong tonal structure.

The PHAVOS™ Interpretation
Taka Protocol pushes the falcon into Future Ruins. The bird is recolored in acid cyan-green and rebuilt inside white bars, technical type and cyberpunk graphics. The original image remains the core, but the context becomes synthetic — an old symbol of authority recoded as a digital-age predator.
